Tips for Leaders to Enhance Employee Well-being

Tips for Leaders to Enhance Employee Well-being

September 14, 2021

The outbreak of COVID-19 has put tremendous pressure on our personal and professional lives. As employees are the lifeblood to keep the operation of any business moving forward, the increasing struggles of employees call for business leaders’ actions in improving staff well-being. There are various ways to help staff navigate through the pandemic. Here are five ways.

Tips for Leaders to Enhance Employee Well-being
Assess and provide mental health support services

Assess and provide mental health support services
Consider asking your workers to carry out an online test to determine how well and satisfied they are at work, such as Health Risk Assessment. The findings will show you how the working environment affects your employee well-being and urge you to take steps to reduce or eliminate stressors. As a leader, you should also provide mental health support as a part of employee support services, such as coaching or even access to medical care.

Create a Trust Culture
A work environment that makes employees feel confident, empowered, and respected will boost employee well-being.  The trust culture not only makes them feel supported but also boosts productivity. Moreover, they are more resilient to unforeseen obstacles. Enable your teammates to express their views and to communicate honestly and openly. Encouraging coworkers to share their thoughts will raise the degree of trust, inspiration, internal drive, mental well-being, and future emphasis. Also, let your team members continue doing their job without micromanagement; that way they will feel more self-reliant and motivated to perform.

Create a Trust Culture

Promote workplace flexibility
Staff appreciates the versatility. Buffer’s 2021 State of Remote Work reports 97.6% of remote employees state that they want to continue to work remotely for at least some parts of their entire careers. Remote employees are twice as likely to experience improved mental health as people without remote job opportunities, making them more resilient and more committed to work.
Developing a flexible work environment often tells the staff that you trust them to do their job. Given versatility for the workers would enhance their mental well-being and inner drive.

Manage your team’s workload
Identifying when teammates are overload and redistribute activities as needed are critical for the team’s well-being and success. When people are under pressure, they don’t do well. This can lead to burnout.

Provide trainings for resilience
A study named “Being on PAR: Outcomes of a Pilot Trial to Improve Mental Health and Well-being in the Workplace With the Promoting Adult Resilience (PAR) Program” indicates that resilience shows a positive correlation with workers’ overall well-being. Thus, leaders should continue to give workers current assistance and services in dealing with tension effects, particularly resilience trainings. Resilience trainings improve employee perceptions about work-life balance, fostering positive outcomes for both individuals and businesses. From this new start line, they can forge ahead and be more resilient, adaptable, and ready to take on the future of work as it waits on the other side of the bridge across uncertainty.
